# FOG Licensing

FOG uses separate recognised libre licenses for software and documentation.

## Software

Software source code, scripts, tests, build files, container definitions,
machine-readable fixtures, and other implementation material are licensed
under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 or any later version
(`AGPL-3.0-or-later`), unless a file explicitly states another license.

The complete version 3 license text is available at
`LICENSES/AGPL-3.0-or-later.txt`.

The current public repository does not contain a FOG protocol implementation
or client SDK. This rule applies to software when it is published here; it
does not claim that such software already exists.

## Documentation

Markdown documentation, protocol specifications, diagrams, and
`merkle-tree.txt` are licensed under the Creative Commons
Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license (`CC-BY-SA-4.0`), unless a
file explicitly states another license.

The complete license text is available at
`LICENSES/CC-BY-SA-4.0.txt`.

## Scope and third-party material

The license texts in `LICENSES/` retain their original terms. Third-party
material, when present, retains its own stated license. No trademark rights
are granted by these licenses.
